This is one of the island’s majors attractions to visit – the impressive Caldeira do Faial. The Caldeira is the vast crater of an extinct volcano from which the island originated. The crater is about 400m deep. We walked around the crater, which has a diameter of about 1.5km. The path around is about 8km long. There were some stunning green slopes…And we could see the clouds traveling around.And this is where the path both starts and ends.
