Coimbra
Coimbra is one of those towns where you feel good. It’s neither too big nor too small, there’s culture, there are nice cafés and restaurants, people are friendly….and there is seemingly always something going on.
I have also attached a few photos of some stunning churches. The Old Cathedral and the New Cathedral are a must.
And I was especially looking forward to visiting the University of Coimbra. It is one of the oldest universities in continuous operation in the world and the oldest university in Portugal. The University’s Joanine Library is one of the most interesting and awe-inspiring spaces devoted to books. This is a real paradise for bookworms!
I could mention many other wonderful things about Coimbra… there is Fado (their traditional music), I could also tell you that students wear long, black capes, there’s some typical food… But then I don’t want to spoil it for you – just come and visit!
Great pics!

Awesome architecture. I visited there in 1980. I remember there being a park of miniature buildings. Is it still there?

Yes, you are right. It’s called Portugal dos Pequenitos. How did you like Coimbra? Would you like to go back?

I liked all of Portugal as I recall. I liked the food, white cobblestone sidewalks and streets, the near deserted beaches (that might have changed) and the Gulbenkian Museum in Lisbon.
