Greetings from Jelenia Gora in Poland
When I told my Polish friends that I was going to Jelenia Gora for a month, the first thing they asked me was: “But what are you going to do there?”
I always find it interesting how people judge places: small and unknown (read: boring) and big and well-known (read: interesting). Now, I don’t function that way.
So, why Jelenia Gora? This is how I see it:
- It’s colorful and cute…
2) The historical center was spared the destruction of WWII, which is quite rare in Poland.
3) There are many interesting details if you just look up…
4) …or around…
5) And.. it’s surrounded by the most beautiful nature (I’ll tell you more about it in my next posts)
In any case, we really like it here…
It’s beautiful!

Absolutely true. Most people look for and appreciate the well known places, the perfect shops, the perfect restaurants, the perfect transports, etc. but that way they often miss the authenticity and the true essence of smaller and beautiful places.
Nice pics and place !! 🙂

What a beautiful city! It’s so colorful that I think that it would be difficult to be unhappy there. I’m glad that most of it survived WWII, I’ve seen photos of the ruins elsewhere in Poland.

My grandmother’s city. Do you know what the name means?

Oh really? Yes, of course. See, you’ll have to come and visit Poland 🙂 Does she still live here?

Oh no. She passed many years ago when she was in her 90s. In those days — when she left — it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, so pre-WWI.
