Greetings from Nuremberg!

Nuremberg is where we spent the month of August. We were really lucky because the weather was simply fantastic during the whole month, which allowed us to travel around and explore the region.

These are my favorite places in town:

Weißgerbergassedefinitely the prettiest street in Nuremberg…

St.Lorenz – which was badly damaged during the Second World War and later restored (like most places in Germany)…

The Frauenkircheunfortunately, we didn’t have time to visit inside (too many things to do), but it looks beautiful from the outside…

The Nuremberg Castle and the area around the castle…

The view from the castle….

The Heilig-Geist-Spital (Holy Spirit Hospital) – a charming example of medieval architecture in the heart of the Old Town…

The Pegnitz River

Nuremberg has many beautiful half-timbered houses….

Wrought iron signs…

And this is one of the best fountains I’ve ever seen…

  1. I lived near Nuremberg in the early 1990’s, we lived in a very small town called Herzogenaurach. It’s a great area. We lived in Hanau as well – hoping to return to Germany soon. Loving your blog – inspiring me as we start to plan for retirement.
